Showa Women’s University (SWU) has a reputation for offering a communication-based Japanese language program for non-degree semester study abroad students. With much experience in continuing semester program offerings online during the Covid-19 outbreak, SWU will launch a new short-term concentrated ONLINE language program for those who want to enhance their Japanese proficiency before an actual study abroad.

- PROGRAM OUTLINE
It consists of 2 online language courses specifically designed to boost Japanese language proficiency from JLPT N4 to N3 level.- Basic Japanese Online Program I: 8 days (total of 15 classes)
- Basic Japanese Online Program II: 15 days (2 classes per day, a total of 30 classes)
- Students can choose to participate in both or one of the courses depending on their current Japanese level and needs.
- For those who complete “Basic Japanese Online Program II” and have successfully enhanced their Japanese proficiency to JLPT N3 level, students can proceed to an actual semester study abroad to participate in the “Intensive Japanese Language Program.”
- Official transcripts and SWU credits will be offered to those who complete the programs.
Level
Requirements
1.Must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in a higher education institution outside Japan.
2.Must have finished studying introductory-level Japanese.
e.g.) Studied Japanese for approximately 250－300hrs / Finished studying with the following textbooks:
「みんなの日本語1＆2（Minna no Nihongo Ⅰ＆Ⅱ」, 「げんき1＆2（GENKI: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese I＆Ⅱ）」
*Those starting from Basic Ⅱ must have JLPT N4 level or equivalent to apply.
