“TUFS Multiling” is a free app for studying kanji taught in Japanese schools from first through third grade.
Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
Description
This is a free app for studying kanji taught in Japanese schools from first through third grade. It is created based on the popular Educational Materials for Children with Non-Japanese Ethnicity, free for download from the TUFS Center for Multilingual, Multicultural Education and Research website.
The app offers definitions and explanations of Kanji in eight different languages; Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Thai, English, Bengali, and Japanese so that you can learn in a language of your choice.
In addition to illustrations that match the Kanji, you can practice the stroke orders with a drawing function. Quiz questions are presented in a drill format with sound effects to facilitate your learning further. Not only can you listen to the correct pronunciation of Kanji, but there is also a recording function that allows you to listen to both your and the teacher’s voices as many times as you like.
This app is still in the development stage, so we hope to improve it and enhance its functions with the help of our users.
