This is Hokkaido University’s Africa Office in Lusaka, the Regional Office in Sub-Saharan Africa.This office has been implementing the Study in Japan Global Network Project. Its primary mission is to recruit international students from Sub-Saharan Africa.

Activities and Services
In April 2012, Hokkaido University honorably launched its first overseas office in the sub-Saharan region of Africa, located at the University of Zambia in Lusaka, the capital city of the Republic of Zambia.
The mission of the office is to provide more information and services regarding Hokkaido University to prospective students, to serve as the hub for faculty members of Hokkaido University who visit Africa for research activities, and to broaden the links of Hokkaido University not only in Zambia but all over the continent of Africa.
This office is running a project to encourage more students to study in Japan under the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology “MEXT”. Staff members in this office act as representatives of Japanese higher education institutions to provide the required information to students in sub-Saharan Africa through the following activities:
- Visiting universities/high schools in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Holding Study in Japan Seminars/Webinars and Study in Japan Fairs(onsite/online)
- Making individual consultations on studying in Japan via email etc.
- Distributing and spreading the related information via SNS, website, etc.
- Supporting operation of Japanese language course at the University of Zambia.
