[TUFS] Online Preparatory Japanese Language Course for International Students (OPJLC Fall 2023)

The OPJLC Fall 2023 course is an on-demand self-study course that allows students to study autonomously using online learning materials developed by TUFS. As a supplement to self-study, weekly online schooling will be conducted via Zoom.

Description

The Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) is offering online Japanese language course for international students* from August to September 2023. The course offered is On-Demand Learning Materials & Self-Study Course, in which students can direct their own study using on-demand learning materials. Online schooling (live lesson) over Zoom is provided once every week to support the students with their self-learning. Students can take this online course from anywhere in the world with an Internet environment and access to designated application(s) and internet services**.

This preparatory course has been offered since academic year 2021. In academic year 2022, the course had participants from 18 countries (including Japan).

*International students who are enrolled in (or will be enrolled in by October 2023) a regular university or graduate school program are eligible. MEXT-funded international students (including those who will arrive in Japan by October 2023) are also eligible. Exchange students, self-funded research students, and other non-degree students are not eligible.

** Access to Zoom (a video conference platform) is required to take the course.

Issuance of Open Badge

An Open Badge* will be issued to students who meet the course requirements for grades, attendance, etc.

*Open Badges are digital certificates (badges) of your knowledge, skills, and experience. The issued Open Badge can be posted on social networking sites, email signatures, and resumes to showcase your strengths to clients, interviewers, and others.

  • Procedure for the person in charge of the university:
    Please check the eligibility (student status) of the students on the list provided by TUFS after the application deadline for students. Please email at opjlc[at]tufs.ac.jp to notify TUFS of any ineligible students by Wednesday, August 16.

    • In case of large number of application, there will be a draw.
