Collaborative project between university overseas bases and offices through the provision of online Japanese language education by Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS)
TUFS is operating this Nijiiro website through a grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Since selected as one of the Top Global University (TGU) by MEXT in 2014, TUFS has striving to strengthen its global presence under the slogan, “From the World to Japan and from Japan to the World”. And in September 2021, TUFS was selected by MEXT as “the Japan Forum for Internationalization of Universities (JFIU)”. TUFS is now working on the “Collaborative project between university overseas bases and offices through the provision of online Japanese language education”. In this project TUFS will cooperate with various universities in Japan and horizontally expand our business achievements to other universities and share information with each other among universities.
Project Objectives
TUFS has been consolidating information on online Japanese language education. By doing so, we will support the activities of the overseas offices of Japanese universities and at the same time promote study in Japan to students who are interested in Japan.
- Form a network of cooperation among overseas offices and bases of Japanese universities
- Provide information on online Japanese language study through the network when undergraduate and graduate students interested in Japan contact the overseas offices and bases
- Support online Japanese language study at overseas offices
⇒Increase students’ interest in Japan and encourage them to study at Japanese universities
Aim of Nijiiro
TUFS has opened this special website Nijiiro to form a network among universities with the following needs.
- To support for study in Japan and provide Japanese language education through each university’s overseas offices
- To provide information on online Japanese language learning to the people who want to study in Japan or are currently studying in Japan
- To share live or on-demand Japanese language learning materials among universities in Japan.
Nijiiro focuses on two topics: “overseas offices and bases” and “online Japanese language learning” for people to study in Japan. We inform overseas students interested in studying in Japan about the overseas offices and bases of Japanese Universities. And also we help students find online Japanese language learning materials that can be viewed in their home countries. In addition, Japanese universities can use this website for researching other universities activities. This website can be used to introduce international students to information of other universities if it is beneficial to them.
Nijiiro is open to everyone. Please introduce this site to students who are interested in studying in Japan or learning Japanese. We also encourage universities that do not have overseas offices and online Japanese language learning materials to make use of this website to gather information.
