101 Simultaneous interpretation facilities

There are several simultaneous interpretation facilities and loaner equipment available on campus. Please choose the one that best suits the number of audience members and languages.

101 Simultaneous Interpretation Equipment Overview

  • An infrared transmitter installed in the ceiling can provide simultaneous interpretation for up to two channels and two languages.
  • There are approximately 190 child units available. (The hall has a capacity of 300, so there are not enough for everyone.)
  • One simultaneous interpretation room is available for a pair of team interpreters, for a total of two simultaneous interpreters.
Status of Simultaneous Interpretation Room 2
  • Simultaneous interpretation room 2 is currently out of service due to equipment failure.
  • Please let us know if there is a need for restoration. When restored, simultaneous interpretation to a maximum of 3 channels and 3 languages will be available, with 2 pairs of team interpreters, for a total of 4 simultaneous interpreters.

Scope of Support

  • The 101 Simultaneous Interpretation Facility ("Tongues") is a highly specialized system that plays an important role in international lectures and multilingual events. Anyone can use the system, though,In principle, the system is operated on a self-service basis.
  • Tongtong facilities are highly specialized, and the Education Informatization Support OfficeWe do not provide support beyond basic operational guidance.Inquiries to the installer/manufacturer are required to confirm usage and troubleshoot problems,Immediate response is not possible.Before using this facility, carefully rehearse and check its operation by referring to the usage manual on this page and the manufacturer's instruction manuals located in the same communication room,It is the responsibility of the organizer to fully understand how to use the equipment.

Request for Shared Use

  • Tongdong facilities are subject to a simple operation check once a year at irregular intervals, but no routine operation check is performed. For this reason,Shared use based on common sense and good manners among userswill be.
  • After use,restoration of original statePlease cooperate with the organizers and take your trash home with you.

Reservation Procedure

  1. Classroom Reservations
    • The Educational Affairs Section is the contact person for reserving classrooms in the 101 Multimedia Hall. Please go to the Educational Affairs Section to make a reservation.
  2. Reserving a key to the Simultaneous Interpretation Room
    • Tonguing facilities are locked at all times. Only classroom reservations at the Academic Affairs Office are unlocked and unavailable.
    • Keys to the Simultaneous Interpretation Room are managed by the Educational Informatization Support Office. Please make a reservation in advance and receive the key to the entrance of the 101 Simultaneous Interpretation Room at the Educational Informatization Support Room.
      • If the room is used outside of our opening hours, we may specify another key delivery method.
      • Keys can also be borrowed from the Educational Affairs Section. When borrowing a key from the Educational Affairs Section, be sure to borrow a set of three keys: the entrance to the Simultaneous Interpretation Room, Simultaneous Interpretation Room 1, and Simultaneous Interpretation Room 2. Simultaneous interpreters use Simultaneous Interpretation Room 1, but the child units used by visitors are stored in Simultaneous Interpretation Room 2 and must be unlocked.
  3. Charge the battery in the handset

  4. Rehearsal and operation check
    • Please check the equipment operation of the communicating facilities and rehearse the interpretation operation.
    • Please plan in advance for rehearsal recharging, as this will also require recharging of the child unit.
